Gerdes already had the opportunity to get to know the company group in May as part of the 67th Info Lunch of the Parliamentary Group for Aviation and Aerospace in Berlin. HTM hosted this event on 19 May 2022 as a member of the Forum Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. to highlight the use of helicopters in the service of renewable energies and public security.
Michael Gerdes, who has represented his constituency in the German Bundestag since 2009, was keen to deepen his impressions from Berlin and gain an intensive picture of HTM's offshore operations.
"An impressive portfolio - HTM makes an enormously important contribution to the sustainable production of renewable energies. Together with the wind farm operators, they ensure the necessary maintenance of the wind turbines on a daily basis. Thanks to its many years of experience in this field, HTM can also be an important partner in providing effective support in the event of disasters, such as winch rescue during floods," says Michael Gerdes.
Accompanied by HTM Managing Director Bernd Brucherseifer and Ørsted Head of Regional Support Thijs Schless, Gerdes then visited the site of the energy company and world market leader in offshore wind energy, Ørsted.
"Exciting but also challenging times are ahead of us. The further expansion of the wind farms in the German Bight naturally also poses challenges - especially in the area of work safety and emergency care for our employees, some of whom work far out in the North Sea. Here, we as Ørsted will continue to develop our existing concepts in the future and advocate for knowledge transfer and clarity in responsibilities at the various political levels. We are very happy to have HTM as a reliable partner at our side for this task as well." says Thijs Schless.
